Farhad
Farhad was born into the Persian Empire as the King’s third son. From a young age, he had little interest in court etiquette or scriptures, preferring instead to slip away to the armory to watch blacksmiths forge blades. At the age of ten, he was captivated by an ancient pair of chakrams and begged for someone to teach him how to wield them. Rather than discouraging him, the Shah cautioned: “A Prince must understand not only how to rule a nation, but also the realities of the battlefield and the common streets.” This period of his life shaped his curious and pragmatic nature, leaving him unburdened by the rigid expectations of his status.
At the age of thirteen, Farhad joined the army to suppress a rebellion in the south. Initially, he was coddled due to his royal blood, making him feel out of place and disconnected from the hearts of the soldiers and the local people. During a night raid where he became separated from his unit, a veteran soldier sacrificed himself to protect him. This moment was a wake-up call; he realized that “war is won by those willing to risk their lives for you”. From then on, he set aside his royal ego, living and eating alongside his soldiers while visiting villages to understand the people’s hardships.
At the age of sixteen, during a siege, he chose to delay a full-scale assault, instead offering to release civilians in exchange for the rebels’ surrender. This victory earned him great fame and solidified his character as a leader who cherishes his subordinates and values the will of the people.
At the age of twenty-one, while stationed on the eastern border, Farhad moved away from the philosophy of “ending war with war”. Instead, he established trade markets and designated grazing lands, winning the trust of nomadic tribes and drastically reducing border conflicts.
At the age of twenty-three, during a rebellion in the western city-states, Farhad found himself surrounded by rebel forces. However, the very tribal cavalry he had once helped rushed to his aid, allowing him to crush the enemy from both sides. Through this battle, he fully realized that “inclusivity and alliances are the true foundations of defending one’s land”, finally becoming a leader capable of standing on his own.
