Backstory

Yi Sun-sin was the greatest naval commander of the Joseon Dynasty—a master strategist and swordsman. Known for his unbreakable integrity, he refused to compromise with corrupt power, a stance that once cost him his position. Yet fate intervened: recommended by a loyal ally, he rose again as Naval Commander of Jeolla Province.

With relentless vision, Yi reinvented naval warfare. He refined the iconic turtle ship—a floating fortress clad in iron, its dragon-headed prow spewing smoke to disorient foes, its flanks bristling with cannons. This revolutionary warship became the spearhead of Joseon’s navy, dominating the seas against impossible odds.

When invasion came, Yi stood alone against the storm. Outnumbered and outgunned, he turned the ocean itself into his weapon—using tides, fog, and treacherous straits to ambush enemy fleets.
